Born and raised in the “City of Brotherly Love”, Deirdre started acting at the tender age of twelve at the “New Freedom Theatre” in Philadelphia. She received her BFA in Theatre at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Deirdre has a rich diverse background in the performing arts where she has excelled as actress, writer, director, producer and acting coach here in Los Angeles.

 

Deirdre was the founder and Artistic Director of LA’s former and much sought after “Faith Acting Studios”, a multicultural performing arts center for young actors. Many of the trained actors still remain powerhouses in the industry today.

 

Deirdre’s training began on the stage and she credits her roots from that training as the force that has brought her this far. Some of her stage credits include her One Woman Show, the story of “Sally Hemmings” which was researched and written by herself. “Comedy Errors”, “12 Angry Women”, “Night of the Iguana” “The Miracle Worker” “South of where we live” and “Extremities”.

 

Deirdre is an award winning playwright as well. She wrote, produced and directed her first stage play over 20 years ago. “Romyo & Julie Mae” premiered in Los Angeles and had a run in her hometown at The New Freedom Theatre where she grew up taking classes. P.O.W. Power Over Weapons followed next and was met with rave reviews. It received four NAACP Theatre Award Nominations. Deirdre received the “Best Actress” award for her work in the play, “The Undertow”.  She also won 9 Colsac awards for, “Best Actor”, “Best Director” and “Best Play”. Then came the acclaimed play, “Secret Parts, Wounded Spirits…Broken Hearts”. This was the first play in which she directed her mother in the lead role. This play is now being written into here first published book. Stay tuned!

 

Her fourth play, “Missing The Main Ingredient”, was her first spiritual play, and it premiered at Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles. This particular play helped Deirdre clearly recognize experience and understand God’s anointing on her as a writer. It changed her life for she knew unequivocally that God had given her a gift for writing. She will always give God all the glory for what He continues to do in her life.

 

“Three Women & You”, by author Brenda Daniel was Deirdre’s fifth stage play and the first time she took a stab at ghost writing. Deirdre transformed Ms. Daniel’s book to a stage production that recently played to sold out houses in LA and also premiered in Sacramento, CA. In October of 2019 Deirdre’s dream became a reality as “Three Women & You” was produced and performed in Nambia, Africa in which she also directed American and Namibian actors together!

 

As a business owner, entrepreneur, actor, writer, director and coach, Deirdre has been blessed with many avenues to express her God given talent. She is a woman of integrity guided by the Holy Spirit, and walking in her divine purpose which is to serve and make a difference in this world.  Our God is an awesome God!
